Restoring Relationships

Dec 18, 2023    Tammy Lamb

Welcome back to the final week of the ADVENTure! Throughout this season, we've delved into the stories of Zechariah, Elizabeth, and Mary. This week, we turn our attention to a remarkable figure whose quiet strength and unwavering faith played a pivotal role in the unfolding of God's plan: Joseph.

Amidst the revelation of Mary's miraculous pregnancy, Joseph's response stands as a testament to his humility and obedience. Despite his initial doubts and concerns, he chose to set aside his personal feelings and embrace the task entrusted to him.

Drawing inspiration from Joseph's example, we invite you to embark on a challenging yet transformative Advent journey:

The Humility Challenge:

Throughout this week, commit to admitting your mistakes, seeking forgiveness, and restoring broken relationships. This challenge may seem daunting, but it holds the potential for profound healing and reconciliation.

1. Seek Divine Guidance: Begin by seeking God's guidance in prayer. Ask Him to reveal areas in your life where you have wronged others, whether through words or actions.

2. Acknowledge Your Errors: With a humble heart, admit to yourself and the individuals you have wronged that you were mistaken. Approach this without excuses or explanations, simply acknowledging your fault.

3. Offer a Sincere Apology: Without justifications or qualifiers, offer a genuine apology. Simply say, "I am sorry."

4. Seek Forgiveness: Humbly request forgiveness, acknowledging that forgiveness is the foundation of healing and restoring relationships. Express your desire to make amends and rebuild trust. Understand that forgiveness may not come immediately. Give the other person time to process their emotions and respond at their own pace.

Remember, true humility involves recognizing our imperfections and seeking reconciliation with those we have wronged. As you embark on this challenging yet rewarding journey, remember that Jesus stands with you. May you experience the transformative power of God's forgiveness this week.
