Made to Serve – Bill Smiesko

For Bill Smiesko, one small “yes” to serving opened the door to a life-changing journey of faith. What began with joining the We Care Team in 2015—now called Spiritual Care—grew into years of ministry that span from local service projects to international missions in Guatemala.

Through sorting clothes for La Mesa, leading Bible studies, coaching small groups, and serving abroad, Bill discovered a powerful truth: every act of service returns more fulfillment than it requires. During his preparation for the Guatemala mission, Bill experienced deep spiritual renewal—confessing long-held struggles and finding new freedom in Christ’s grace.

His encouragement to others: Start small. Pray with someone. Offer help to a neighbor. Take one step toward serving and watch how God transforms not only others’ lives but your own.
