Connecting With Christ: A Reflection on Faith
by Ryan Barlow
Have you ever struggled to connect to the internet? Despite having all the equipment, you just couldn't access it until a professional helped you. In the same way, we may know that God's grace is out there, but we may struggle to connect with it. So, how do we connect with Christ?
Faith is the Key
Faith is the key to connecting with Christ. Forgiveness and eternal life are available to all, but only become a reality through faith in Jesus. Paul highlights this with Abraham in Romans 4:13-16, showing that Abraham received his inheritance through faith, not through obeying the law perfectly.
Faith is a Gift
But what is faith? Is it our own work? No, faith is a gift from God. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that we are saved by grace through faith, and that faith is not our own doing, but a gift from God. The Holy Spirit brings us to faith and connects us to Christ and His mercy.
Responding to Connection with Christ
In response to being connected through faith, we can participate in connecting with Jesus and helping others connect with Him by:
- Receiving God's grace in Holy Communion
- Listening to God's Word
- Sharing God's Word with others
Let us embrace the gift of faith and stay connected to Christ!
