Be Prepared, Not Scared: Finding Hope in God's Word

by Tim Ahlman
In a world filled with fear and uncertainty, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and weighed down by the challenges we face. From moral decline to political polarization, the list of external fears can seem endless. But as Christians, we have a powerful tool to combat fear and find hope: God's Word.

Being prepared means knowing the story of God's love and redemption for His people. It's a story that begins with creation, continues through the rebellion and sin of humanity, and culminates in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice, we have the promise of eternal life and the hope of a new creation.

As believers, we are called to be prepared by listening to the Holy Spirit, being fervent in prayer, and inwardly digesting God's Word. This preparation gives us peace that surpasses understanding and joy that cannot be stolen by the challenges of this world.
When we are prepared, we can share the hope of the Gospel with others. We can tell the greatest story of all time and share how Jesus has changed our lives and perspectives. This is a powerful evangelism strategy that can bring hope and light to dark places.
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”  And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Revelation 21:4-5
So if you're baptized, believe in Jesus, listen to the Holy Spirit, pray fervently, and let God's Word sink into your heart, then you're prepared. You know the end of the story, and you know the One who holds you in His mighty hand. Share this hope with others, and let them know that they too can find peace and joy in God's Word.
